I like to take the NEL in the morning to work. It wasn't my normal routine for the past 7 months though. Until one (late) morning recently, when i decided to try a different route and jumped off the bus at Outram station. After once or twice, i figured the correct way out at the serangoon station (there being around 4 exits) to take another bus to my workplace (the part i hate most 'cos it's almost always impossible to get up the human-canned bus).
Being the lucky one to stay near town and on the other side of the train (from WTC to Punggol terminal), my cabin's usually quite empty. In fact, i think i can get into a totally void cabin if i want to. That's what i like about taking the NEL. The monotony and the quiet murmur of the train engine travelling on the track definitely beat the blasting TV mobile and asthmatic bus engine of a crowded rectangular box any day. Though i see nothing besides grey walls and lookalike stations, it is kinda calming. Seeing too many people, cars and buildings while on the bus taxes my mind.
It's a good way to start a day - by stoning and just enjoying my own company ('cos sometimes i see my colleagues on the bus, though i don't dislike them, but to have to make small talk in the morning can be quite draining!). Except it costs just a little more, i think. I'm very bad at maths... so i don't really know. And the (ironically) unfortunate thing is that my solitude will lasts for only about 17 minutes. Think i'm getting used to the silent ride... unless i can catch the earlier more empty bus. It's like a de-stressor, much likened to my olio-dome brownie treat. Ha.
Trust is such a valuable thing. I feel sorry for people who've lost that trust once held by others. People no longer feel safe leaving tasks and responsibilities with them because they "just can't be trusted". It'll be very hard to win that level of relationship back once it has been broken. But it takes as much hard work to maintain that trust, which can be pretty tiring sometimes. Quite scary actually. I dunno if i've broken that trust with many, but i sure hope it doesn't out-count my fingers. [Presently, i hope i won't betray that trust unwittingly at work....]
"1 I will extol the LORD at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
2 My soul will boast in the LORD ;
let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
...
4 I sought the LORD , and he answered me;
he delivered me from all my fears.
...
17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 A righteous man may have many troubles,
but the LORD delivers him from them all;
20 he protects all his bones,
not one of them will be broken. ... "
