Nothing Compares

Lyrics by Mac Powell/Music by Third Day

I've heard all the stories
I've seen all the signs
Witnessed all the glory. Yeah
Tasted all that's fine

Nothing compares
to the greatness of knowing You, Lord
Nothing compares
to the greatness of knowing You, Lord

I see all the people
Wasting all their time
Building up their riches
For a life that's fine

I find myself just living for today
'Cause I don't know what
Tomorrow's gonna bring
So no matter if I rise or fall
I'll never be alone, oh no

A realisation struck me just the other day... nothing new actually, but you know, like a new revelation of an old truth. Prolly sparked off by the above song (by one of my fave bands). That we have an eternal lifetime with God above (if one confesses with his tongue and believes in his heart that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour)... and only a few decades [if one's "(un)lucky"] here on earth to do all that we're supposed to do. If I should live by this realisation and belief each day, then I think it'd mean living with a bigger heart and greater urgency for the things of the Kingdom.

"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33

ie. To live with an eternal perspective and treat the person next to me as one with an immortal soul. That's how severe and serious life can be, I suppose... Serious enough to not take too seriously the injustice that we (think we) suffer or the idiosyncrasies of idiots around us.

Having said that, I think I'm spending more time each day trying to complete tasks and fretting over the undone, than to consider carefully about building lives up. Life is spent being tired, and then trying harder to live faster in the hope that there'd be more time to take a breather.... and the cycle repeats.

Argh. Anyway, I'm taking some days off this month. To do what? I'm not sure. Don't have many friends to jio to travel somewhere near. I didn't even know that one of my primary school playmates was pregnant until I got a msg from her that her baby girl was born! For a real moment, I wondered if she meant a real human baby or her pet dog's.....

And now, back to clearing my workstation so that I can try to make myself feel better that I'm still in control....!!! =|
