One Night in Malacca
Sea view from our hotel room
My friend invited this old-boy band to perform at her wedding dinner, onstage and offstage, going from table to table to play a tune or two during dinner. They are actually resident performers at a nearby restaurant. A pretty neat idea, methinks!
Nightlife was just a walk through their Jonker Street, somewhat like our Chinatown/pasar marlam, where street hawkers display retro toys, bags, clothes and food on makeshift table-stalls. But 'cos we reached there at around 11 plus, many stalls had already packed up for the night. Besides the stalls, there were also shops alongside the roads, which sell relatively higher-end arts and crafts. Oh, then we went up to the bridal suite to check things out. Nice view and moon eh? :)
And now, introducing the food! The famous chicken rice balls. Unlike the ones in Singapore (hmm, somewhere in bugis area), where one rice ball is the size of 1.5 tennis balls, the originals in Malacca are about the size of 1 ping pong ball each. The rice is nice, the chicken's okay. But the best was ....
...this tom yam/assam fish! Yummilicious!!
Lastly, we rounded up our lunch with chendol, kampung style. This place originally opened up only the ground floor for business, serving mainly locals. Gradually, they set up more tables on the second floor, moving in from outside the hall, to the inside. Other than chendol, they serve local fares like laksa and stuff.
Think i can venture into food photography right....hehe. More pix here!
