Surprises

i love surprises... pleasant ones of 'cos. Otherwise, they are shocks, right. Not expecting the unexpected but receiving them eventually brings about a nice feeling.

Sometimes i'll go home with an unplanned purchase... like a CD or clothes or just stuff. I'm definitely not a shopaholic, but i think i usually buy CDs when i'm in the (moody) mood... To me, a CD is like a nicely wrapped present with plenty of surprises within. I'm attracted by the CD jacket/booklet that comes with it... which is the main reason why I buy original CDs. Best when they are well designed. But that's just the external appearance. After i have carefully unwrapped this layer and leave it for closer scrutiny later, the climax comes when the 'gift' itself unravels more gifts. As the CD spins the tracks, i either receive more surprises (other than the songs usually heard playing on the radio -- i'm not the kind to experiment with unheard-of CDs) or nasty shocks (and disappointment that only a few tracks are worth paying for). And i've learnt that you'll get the most enjoyment out of this only when one CD is bought. Distractions are not recommended. Ha, but i didn't receive this surprise today.

Instead, I was surprised by two strangers at yoshinoya. I merely asked for the chilli powder on their table but they ended up giving me the soya sauce, an extra iced tea and two cans of sprite. At first they gave me the iced tea which i didn't want 'cos i already had a drink anyway. But didn't feel like pushing it back 'cos it didn't seem like i would convince the insistent guy that i really didn't want it anyway. Then, before they left, they decided to shove me the (free) cans of sprite as well. So there i was, with 1 meal and 4 drinks. It was quite embarrassing 'cos there was a group of kiddos behind me, witnessing the whole incident. But that ain't the end of the wonderful story. i surprised myself by deciding to Pay It Forward and not waste the drinks. I summoned the other friendly side of me and gave the drinks to a surprised couple next to me. Voila~ the drinks went back to the same table. Ha. And i was even more embarrassed after doing that in front of those kiddos. URghz, but hey, i DID IT ok. Maybe that is the beginning of me being friends with the world again. ;)

I like feeling 'timeless'. Just walking about without keeping tab on the time (because i didn't wear a watch) is actually quite a relaxing thing to do. (Except for the occassional times when i just have to check the time on my handphone... ermz.)

hmm, and i'm a bit surprised by the new length of my crown-of-glory~ still deciding if i like it or not. =/
