Dreadful Discrimination
|| Charlie Brown identified with the underdog, probably because he always felt like one. In one scene he was building a birdhouse when the cynical Lucy came by. "I'm building it for sparrows," Charlie told her. Lucy said, "For sparrows? Nobody builds birdhouses for sparrows." "I do," replied Charlie Brown. "I always stick up for the underbird."
At times, we may overlook the "sparrows", the little people in our worlds. We may ignore those we view as less valuable... reasons may be social, economic, educational, or ethnic, but there's no excuse for disrespecting people with our attitudes and words.
Jesus crossed all kinds of traditional barriers to talk with tax-collectors, sinners, non-Jews, people of mixed races, the poor, as well as the rich. He came to identify with each of us, and to pay the price on the cross for all our sins.
When a sparrow falls, the Father takes note of it. But He cares much more for people, including the "underbird". Perhaps we need a little more Charlie Brown in us." ||

To confess, i am one guilty Lucy. I don't know about others, but it disturbs me. Isn't knowledge supposed to be a useful tool to help and, would i dare say, to make the world a better place? To me, knowledge is created and built upon by mere man. And the stark-naked truth is that after being stripped off its gown of glamour, it's worth only as much as the soil that first formed those very beings.
Funny how some people use what they have accumulated and learnt from others to put down those who don't have the same knowledge. The only way to feel worthy is to make others feel worthless. Perfect ugliness exemplified.
Only when i look through God's eyes, then will i realise that my own small wings do not differ much from those around me...
(SIDETRACK: if only that someone at work sees that she is just an overgrown sparrow, and stop acting like an eagle~! \o/~~ )
