Saw the mortuary photos of Saddam Hussein's sons on the newspaper report yesterday and it totally abhorred me. To think that some people are so foolish as to believe that by putting up 'proof' of dead leaders and (what-they-believe) a dying regime, folks will cease support for Hussein and put their trust in them. To me at least, by showing the hideous close-up shots of the dead, they are, ironically, employing the *same* tool of fear in an attempt to persuade the Iraqis to follow their leading. Politics aside, it isn't exactly a 'civilized' act to do to a human being (which is another irony because we all know that they pride themselves as being a civilized society and they are on a mission to rectify what the 'babarians' are doing wrongly all these years). It's like killing a dead person all over again... Now, what kind of winner is that? Pure humiliation for the dead, and the highest amount of disgust as prize for the 'winner'. Congratulations.

Was sharing with a friend about the inhumane behaviour of some employers who lash out at their employees. I can never understand how an adult, can do that to another adult at the workplace. To me, it should only be seen at home (parents/children), between couples (haha), and sometimes unacceptably, in school. I thought that being rational and mature people who know the meaning of respect, talking in a proper manner instead of barking like a canine should be the standard protocol at work. However, two things tip the balance: Power; and basically, the flawed human nature. Just because one is at the mercy of the other who is handing out the paycheck, he/she is susceptible to abuse? I mean, so what if he/she made a mistake? The point is to communicate the message across and i don't think that by shouting until the poor guy/gal cries is the best form of communication. Next, the paradox of the inhumane human nature seems to be a good excuse to justify the act of lashing out at a guy who has pissed you off (even if accidental). Hopefully i won't be at either end of this scene in the drama of (working) life in the future.
