Volunteering

Just yesterday, thanks to zibing, I was at Ikea helping out at a booth/stall to sell handmade soaps, bags, accessories, etc, to raise funds for the projects undertaken by the organisation Operation Hope Foundation.

The funds go to helping people in Cambodia and Nepal (mainly these two places i think) in areas such as well drillings, flood mitigation / relief programs, building of women's shelters and schools for children, helping the women especially to change their livelihood (from prostitution to making handicrafts for sale in countries like in singapore). It's a registered charity and should be quite legitimate. Apparently the founder, Mr Robert Kee was featured in the ST and at least 2 customers at the stall kinda know him personally.

And they are hiring too, but I missed their ad in last Sat's Recruit section. But the project coordinator said he'll email me the jobs descriptions. So, if u're interested in volunteering with them or making some sort of contribution or looking for some work in such organisations, you can check out the website! Highly recommended. Haha. Oh, and the booth at Ikea will be on till this Sunday, and next week, I think they'll be at Bugis Junction. :)
