Contentment is the greatest gain...

What a paradox. Only when i stop wanting, will i have my greatest want satisfied?

Let things take its course? I've always thought that as long as i do my possible best, things shall unfold as it ought to be. But i am constantly receiving messages - to be smarter, richer, prettier... i.e. better. Can i really accept simplicity, or to accept mediocrity? Are they the same.... Sometimes i really do long for a simple life, but what is a simple life exactly? To be shabby? Haha. That's the first image that comes to mind. Can rich people be simple people? Can talented people be simple? Or are simpletons the ones who are (blissfully) ignorant of, the knowledge in the world, the pleasures of the rich, or the (often sweet) indulgence of the self? Why is simplicity desired? Because contentment is the foundation of happiness. More often than not, nasty things start because of competing demands for the same good (aha! my econs hasn't gone to waste!)... And well, everyone wants to be happy. It's in-built. I ignore those who claim to be able to be isloated for the rest of their lives and not giving a hoot for the rest of the world. Give me a break. Anyway, i digress. Back to the question: How do i, do my best (which involves stretching myself to the max and why would i want to do this) but not crave the desires that accompany it? When does contentment begin? Is it a perennial feeling/status... or i need to remind myself everyday of the 'i-haves' over the 'could-haves'...

"Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold." - Proverbs.
Not worldly wisdom, but that which is given by God... i want to be able to reach for stars, do my best... but not be sucked into this world's appealing black-hole: materialism...
