Just Don't Get It

Have you heard of the Importance Scale? Remember how you decide between two gatherings that happened at the same time? Or when you cook up some excuse just to avoid being stuck with some people at some boring dinner? That was when you tagged a value to each of those people and measure them on The Scale. I think everyone gives a value to every friend they have, consciously or sub-. Abrasion happens when two people tag different values on each other. In fact, it's very much an inverse relationship. Eventually if the values are extremely different or when nothing changes, the whole friendship will just be weathered down (haha too much geog in my life right now). If not careful, failed expectations become drowning disappointment, then quicksand-like depression and maybe even flagging off a construction of the great wall of china around oneself. Sometimes i wonder why God bothers to put me in the lives of people who tag me a value that's near ground level...and vice versa. Better than being over-reliant on a human being, i think.
