:: Thanks ::

Thanks for praying... the op went well without any complications. In fact, she was quite conscious after the op and she could recognise my mum when she was wheeled out of the op theatre. The nurse was quite surprised actually...she said most people would still be semi-conscious and unable to make sense of their surroundings. And my grandma's 91... Thank you Jesus!!

Now gotta learn how to do physio with her, and she has to start sitting up and try walking with the walker soon. After which, may have to find a daycare elderly activity centre or sth. Yup... :)

"And in other news... "

Like what was said at a meeting yesterday, at my workplace, there are only two seasons: peak and super-peak. I'm feeling the heat, with two publications that i'm managing supposed to be ready end of the year. Got this new geog title that is pretty messy. It was read by a few editors and was actually at the 3rd stage (out of about 4 stages) of approval, but upon being scrutinized by my new supervisor, she decided that it sucked (in my words). So it's being relegated to the 1st stage all over again. Wonder if that's common. Hopefully under my cleaning up, it will be satisfactorily approved to seeing daylight. *wipes perspiration* manz... time to dig up geog books again... Can't remember how we answered questions at the O-level~ Green revolution? Horticulture??? :I

... FUN!!!! :O

Hopefully though. Frowning at the production schedule that i'm to come up with. With all the stages and the number of people the proofs have to go through, and the corset-tight schedule to keep to, i'm going nutz trying to make everything fall into place (ideally). Just heard someone said this to another: "What have you learnt about schedules after being here for so long? ... It doesn't work!!" uRm.

One thing i'm proud of: I chose to go to my fren's ROM over work! I was supposed to follow my snr ed to a meeting with a geog HOD to talk about how to improve the syllabus blah blah. Would be quite an enriching experience... plus the other pressure came from the fact that my new senior ed suggested i go. Except she din know that i've applied leave already (cos i was reporting to my old senior ed.. complicating). i told her my dilemma and after thinking through over one nite, i decided to go for the once-in-a-lifetime event... i mean, if i were to die the next day or sth, i wld have chosen that over work.

In fact, i'm trying not to be someone who lives to work and whose entire life is consumed by it. Although i enjoy my work (most of the time) and it really is very busy that sometimes i have no choice but to work OT, i remind myself that work is just a means to an end (what, u will have to figure it out yourself). I think this belief in non-workaholism came from my childhood experiences, where i have received many empty promises, and those trips to the zoo, etc never materialised. Hence probably explaining why i hang out more with my friends since young. Besides it's sad when someone works all his life only to look back and realise that nothing was really achieved.

Having said that, sigh, i have to eat my words - i brought work home to do.
