Recently, i've been trying to think deeper about the issue of homosexuality and trying to decide on my stand, values, principles, kinds of 'arguments'... I think i'll feel more 'peace' when i have an answer "ready" if such topic arises amongst some discussion one day, and I will not feel too confused when that time comes. I guess it started off with the news report of PM Goh's interview with Time mag, and a commentary of it by one of the ST writers (hopefully it will still be there cos i tink ST only archives 3 days' news). Oh, and although i didn't feel that i've done enough research on it, the trigger to my impulse to note this down came just now when i saw my kindergarten gal neighbour (whom may not recognise me anymore) with a butch. It's not really the 1st time i have a fren who is lesbian but i guess i still feel shocked and sad that a (sweet) gal will like another gal, especially at this age when most of them would have grown out of this phase by now. Strangely, she told me b4 that her sister wld hv 'liked' me if she was a boy (haha, who will 4get such a 'compliment' received at 5 years old?).

Trying to be objective about it while holding on to my faith in God's Word makes it even harder to present to myself a 'perfect' argument / 'thesis' about this issue. To many people, including ST who announced that they welcome the change in the gah-men's policy in employing self-proclaimed gays, and PM Goh who said that "in time, the population will understand that some people are born that way. We are born this way and they are born that way, but they are like you and me," they have almost no qualms about endorsing this new announced policy or accepting this form of behaviour.

Hence, i searched the net for some sorta widely-trusted scientific info about it. One report challenged one widely accepted statistics (quoted in ST - "Some American studies have suggested that as much as 10 per cent of any population is homosexual. In all probability - the science on this is not settled...") by saying that "Kinsey's study had been poorly designed, using a non-randomly selected population, 25% of whom had been prisoners. The figures stood unchallenged until quashed by contemporary research; a figure of 1-2% is now generally quoted".

Anyway, if u're interested, u can check out the article or Google them for yourself. I guess my conclusion on this is, to me, homosexuality is not natural nor accepted before God (accounts and verses in the bible like the destruction of Sodom city is clear on this), just like a spoon doesn't go with a spoon, nor a fork with another. But of course, there is no right for anyone to slam them down and 'squash them like a cockroach' (haha remember tat margaret chan or who in "Masters of The Sea"). Yes, appearances are natural, but I do not agree with the comparison of this with sexuality because I believe that everyone have the choice to decide how to live his life, despite the circumstances one is born in - just a matter of taking extra effort.
